CASPIAN: Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering

CASPIAN protest images

CASPIAN has helped lead demonstrations throughout the country to protest stores that institute "loyalty" programs. Even though studies show that consumers overwhelmingly dislike these programs, stores continue to roll them out while dismissing the concerns of program detractors. When supermarkets implement these programs they often state they are "in response to consumer demand" and attempt to make card opponents believe they are alone in their feelings. Demonstrations help to show the stores that there is considerable opposition to these programs, as well as informing the public that their concerns about the program are shared by others.
